Tasmania and parts of Southern Victoria are quite regularly lit up by the stunning ‘Southern Lights’.
According to the Australian Bureau of Meteorology, this occurs when electrically charged electrons and protons race down the Earth’s magnetic field lines, colliding with neutral atoms.
